BLS Instructor / Renewal Course

This course is 5 hours of instructor/renewal training to teach Basic Life Support/CPR in accordance with American Heart Association’s current Guidelines.  Participants are expected to have mastered the cognitive subject matter needed to teach CPR.  Please note that all students must satisfactorily perform psychomotor activities during skills training.  New candidates are required to have a certificate of completion form from the AHA “Core Instructor Course” and a current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR card prior to the beginning of class.

Special Instructions:  All BLS instructor candidates must be affiliated with an American Heart Association Training Center.  To register for class you must provide a signed letter from the training center coordinator.  
TC Coordinators are to provide:

  • New candidates with the AHA “Core Instructor Course” materials early enough so they can complete the course prior to coming to the BLS CPR specific course.
  • New and current instructors with the new BLS Instructor’s Manual and BLS Healthcare Provider textbook.  CHS employee must complete Instructor Candidate Application and meet with Charleen Strebel prior to the class.

CHS Employees:
1.    Register via HealthStream.  No Charge to CHS employees.
2.    New instructors must fax or mail a copy of their current Healthcare Provider card, the certificate of completion form from the AHA “Core Instructor Course”, and a signed letter from the training center coordinator.  Instructors that are renewing must fax or mail a copy of their current BLS Instructor card.

NON-CHS Employees:
1.    Complete registration form.  Fee: $50
