CHS Receives Fit-Friendly Company Award

Cottage has been awarded the American Heart Association’s Fit-Friendly Company Gold Achievement designation for 2008.  This designation is designed to be a catalyst for positive change in American business, and the program recognizes employers who champion the health of their employees and work to create a culture of physical activity in the workplace. The program recognizes and rewards companies for progressive leadership and for making the health and wellness of their staff a priority.

Cottage is the first company in Santa Barbara County to receive this distinction: the award is also meant to encourage other companies to participate and demonstrate similar physical activity practices for their employees.

The American Heart Association recognizes employers who go above and beyond when it comes to their employees’ health by encourages physical activity practices such as:
    •    Providing walking routes.
    •    Promoting walking programs, online newsletters, and tracking tools to motivate employees.
    •    Allowing staff to wear athletic shoes in the workplace on designated "sneaker days."
    •    Use tools like AHA's free Start! Walking Program to create a healthier workplace environment.
