The Santa Barbara Neuroscience Institute at Cottage Health System, under the leadership of Medical Director Thomas H. Jones, MD, features board-certified neurologists and neurosurgeons as well as specially trained nurses, therapists and other support team members.  Our program is patient-centered with an aim to proactively prevent, accurately diagnose and effectively treat patients with any neurological emergency - 24 hours a day, seven days a week; highlighting our care philosophy: “Through the cycle of care, quantify optimal patient outcomes by leveraging sound quality initiatives with unmatched technological capabilities, research and physician expertise."
SBNI's Stroke Program was the first on the Central Coast to be awarded The Joint Commission’s Advanced Primary Stroke Certification and features highly specialized resources typically only seen at larger academic medical centers. In 2012, the program earned the Gold Plus Quality Achievement award from the American Heart Association / American Stroke Association.
