The New Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital
Building Updates
Maps and directions to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital are available here.
While the New Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital continues to take shape, we appreciate the ongoing patience and understanding of all who are affected by the construction. Progress is being made on several portions of the project:
- The 633-space Pueblo Parking structure for visitors, physicians, volunteers, and some employees is the new primary parking for patients and visitors (see directions). Entrance to the new garage is from Castillo Street. Parking will be free for hospital patients and their visitors through ticket validation.
- The 8-ft. underground storm drain and utilities, running underground from the corner of Junipero at Castillo, has been completed.
- The new 8,200 sq. ft. Orfalea Child Care Center opened in July 2007 (see press release).
The three-story 550-space parking structure behind the Knapp Building provides parking for employees.
The massive steel framework for the Energy Center at the corner of Junipero and Bath is complete, and the plant will be fully operational by Fall 2008.
Demolition of buildings in the block west of the current hospital is complete. Grading in preparation for starting to build the first of two new Patient Pavilions, an entrance plaza, and the diagnostic and treatment wing is under way.
When the new Pavilions are completed in 2011, portions of the existing hospital will be torn down to make way for a third Pavilion, while other portions will be renovated.
We apologize for any inconvenience during construction and greatly appreciate your cooperation.
