Cottage Health System Board
Announces New Chair, Members

March 2008

At its February meeting, the CHS Board of Directors said farewell to two of its long-term members, Joanne Rapp and Marshall Rose, and welcomed three new directors. With the addition of Margaret Baker last fall, the CHS board now has 20 members. 

Margaret Baker, a former member of the Rehabilitation Institute at Santa Barbara board, is an educator with a long history of service on several community boards and organizations, most recently for three years on the RISB board. A resident of Carpinteria, she has also served on the boards of Laguna Blanca School and Crane Country Day School. 

Ms. Baker received her bachelor’s degree from U.S. International University in San Diego, and her master’s degree in special education from UCSB. She also holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University.

 

Jon Clark is currently the executive director of the James S. Bower Foundation. He is also a current board member of several non-profit organizations, including the Santa Barbara Foundation, Storyteller Childcare Center, and Direct Relief International.

Mr. Clark was raised in Santa Barbara and graduated from Santa Barbara High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Psychology from UCSB, and then earned Masters degrees in Business Administration and Regional Planning from University of Southern California.

 

Marshall “Chip” Turner is a Certified Public Accountant and managing partner with Damitz, Brooks, Nightingale, Turner and Morrisset in Santa Barbara, and specializes in business tax consulting.

He is a current board member of the Santa Barbara Zoo and former board member of several non-profit organizations, including Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care and the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden.

Mr. Turner also attended local schools, graduating from Bishop Garcia Diego High School. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame.

   

Cottage’s all-volunteer Board of Directors provides direction for Cottage Health System. Board members serve without pay and guide the system in its mission to provide quality and affordable health care to the communities Cottage serves. A complete list of CHS Board members can be found here.
