Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Foundation Announces $1 Million Gift From Santa Ynez Band of Chumash IndiansMay 9, 2007 -- The fundraising campaign to retrofit and expand Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital has received a most significant boost with the announcement of a $1 million gift from its neighbor, the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians. “This generous gift,” said Wende Cappetta, vice president at Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital, “will help us continue to provide health care to all people in the greater Santa Ynez community. We are extremely grateful for this level of support. The improvements to the hospital will make a world of difference for all who seek medical care in our region.” Chumash Chairman Vincent Armenta added, “It’s an honor to be involved in this important community project, and we’re pleased that this gift to the hospital foundation will benefit so many in our area. Those who live in the Valley depend on the 24-hour services of the hospital and it’s a privilege to be part of helping it improve and expand to serve all local residents and visitors.” Gifts to the Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Foundation will help to fund the $10 million retrofit and expansion of the Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital which is needed to meet new seismic safety requirements set by the State of California. The hospital plans to break ground later this summer and complete construction within two years, well ahead of the state deadline of 2013. This is one of three seismic projects being undertaken simultaneously by Cottage Health System, including those at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital. - end - |
