Treatments for Pneumonia

The goal of treatment is to:

  • Destroy the germs that caused the infection
  • Maintain adequate oxygenation
  • Relieve symptoms of shortness of breath, cough, muscle aches etc.
  • Avoid complications

There are no surgical procedures for treating uncomplicated pneumonia.
