The Department of Trauma and Surgical Research at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital was established in 1997. The mission of our department is to create an environment where significant and ethical research related to trauma, surgery, and surgical critical care is facilitated. Our goal is to enable investigators at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital to make important contributions to the advancement of medicine by participating in research studies.

Trauma Research at SBCH has successfully participated in significant multi-centered prospective clinical trials, networking with the best research institutions in the nation. Our surgical residents and faculty have designed, carried out, presented, and published important institutional research projects. We have been able to recruit outstanding nurse clinicians to coordinate our research efforts. There are many exciting new research projects in the planning stages.
