The Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Cancer Data Center is a major component of the multi-disciplinary cancer program at Cottage. Its purpose is to collect, manage, and analyze the hospital's cancer experience. Additionally, it supplies data for special audits, studies, and administration planning. The staff members also plan and coordinate the weekly tumor boards and monthly cancer forum and Cancer Commitee meetings.

Top Level of Care

Since 1976, the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons (ACOS) has recognized Cottage's commitment to the treatment of cancer, accrediting Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital's program for the quality of its services as a teaching hospital cancer program. We are very proud to be among the 25% of cancer programs in the United States that are ACOS-accredited. As an ACOS-accredited cancer program, Cottage has access to national cancer information and the ability to collect and compare the treatment results of Cottage patients with those of patients at other cancer centers. It also enables the hospital's cancer team members and staff physicans the ability to increase their knowledge of new diagnostic techniques and treatments of cancer and constantly improve the scope and quality of care offered to our patients.
