Cottage's Critical Care Units provide state-of-the-art care around the clock.
The 15-bed Intensive Care Unit and 18-bed Critical Care Unit at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and 8-bed Critical Care Unit at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital are prepared to provide comprehensive critical care services for any unforeseen event, including trauma, serious illness, pneumonia, and heart attack, as well as scheduled heart surgery and other critical surgeries.
Our Critical Care nurse specialists provide expert care to critically ill patients and are knowledgeable sources of information for patients and their families.
At Cottage, we encourage family and friends to be part of the patient's care team and to ask questions. Visiting hours are generally open and based on patient and family discretion as well as the condition of the patient. At the time of admission, one family member is typically designated as the "family spokesperson." This person communicates with the Critical Care staff and can then update other family and friends. |
