Improvement Department at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital is a resource
for all Cottage Health System patients. If you should experience
any concern regarding your hospitalization or Your
Rights as a Hospital Patient, or need assistance in contacting
the appropriate State agency to file a complaint, this department
is available to help you. Call (805) 569-7244, or simply dial x7244
if you’re at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
You are responsible:

For providing information about your health,
including past illnesses, hospital stays, use of medicine,
and any advance directives you have; |

For asking questions when you do not understand information
or instructions; |

For telling your doctor if you believe you can’t follow
through with your treatment; |

For providing information for insurance and for working with
the hospital to arrange payment, when needed; |

For recognizing the effect of lifestyle on your personal
health. Your health depends not just on your hospital care
but, in the long term, on the decisions you make in your daily
