Physician Billing

The total cost of your medical bill is made up of the hospital’s fees and physician’s fees. 

For Cottage Health System does not employ physicians.  However, physician groups provide emergency, radiology, pathology and anesthesia services.  These groups bill separately from the hospital.  Some physician groups may not be contracted with a patient’s insurance company.  Cottage Health System encourages physicians to participate in the same contracts that it uses.  However, hospitals cannot obligate physician groups to contract with any insurance company.  Cottage Health System is unable to assist patients with any contractual disputes with a physician’s billing service.
