Recreational Therapy

 

Individualized leisure activities and counseling are provided by the recreation therapist to incorporate and reinforce skills learned from other therapies. Patients are helped to adapt or modify previous leisure activities and find new ones to enjoy.

 

Supervised trips away from the hospital in a specially equipped van provide opportunities to practice improved skills in a real-life situation. Therapeutic recreation supports return to home and community in an independent and healthy lifestyle.

 


 

Therapeutic Recreation Extension Classes

 

Therapeutic Recreation Extension Classes (TREC) is CRH's community outreach program for alumni, community members with or without a disability, as well as current inpatients and outpatients. TREC programs address health, spirit, recreation and support for people with disabilities. Therapeutic recreation supports return to home and community in an independent and healthy lifestyle. Patients are helped to adapt or modify previous leisure activities and find new ones to enjoy.

Support groups and counseling incorporate and reinforce skills gained from other therapies.

  • Outlook Group is an educational and social group for people who use wheelchairs.
  • Project Re-Entry is a support group for those recovering from stroke and brain injury.

 

Scholarships are available based on financial need.
