Orthopedic Center Seminars

Knee and Hip Pain? We can help!   The Cottage Center for Orthopedics offers three healthy joint seminars to meet the lifestyle and educational needs of our communities. These seminars are taught in a relaxed and friendly learning environment at both Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital and Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.   There are three seminars available – choose the one that is right for you! • Meet the Doctors • Healthy Joint Living • Pre-operative Joint Replacement Each seminar uses a variety of teaching aids, such as video, lecture, discussion and demonstration. All classes are free of charge, so bring a friend or two. A healthy snack and refreshments will be served.  There will also be ample time for questions and answers at the end of the one-hour presentations.

A wellness seminar for those who want to live more healthily with the joints they have. Taught by licensed occupational and physical therapists with expertise in working with problems related to muscles and joints, body mechanics, and injury prevention.   Participants will learn: How to better care for the major joints of your body Ways to prevent injury and pain as a result of poor body alignment and mechanics Products on the market that can aid you in daily living Questions to ask their physician regarding joint pain And much more…

For those who are considering or who have scheduled knee or hip replacement surgery. Taught by physical therapists and nurses who work for the Joint Replacement Program at Cottage Health System.   Participants are given a 38-page Joint Replacement Guide outlining the process at the Cottage Center for Orthopedics.   Participants will learn: Steps involved in preparing for a successful joint replacement What to expect while in the hospital How to safely prepare the home for the recovery period What to expect during the recovery period after hospitalization And much more…
