On July 22, 1997, at a United Nations meeting, it was announced that the World Health Organization and UNICEF had designated Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital as a “Baby Friendly” hospital for outstanding breastfeeding support. We are one of less than 40 hospitals in the United States to earn this title and were the first “Baby Friendly” hospital in California.
